NBC Canceled 'The Playboy Club'

NBC's 'The Playboy Club' has officially been canceled after only airing three episodes.

It becomes the first freshman series of the Fall 2011/2012 season to be canceled. It will be replaced with reruns of 'Prime Suspect' for the next three weeks until a new series takes its place. Brian Williams 'Rock Centre' will take 'Playboy's' place on October 31.

Here is a breakdown of the already aired episodes:
01 - Pilot - 1.6 rating - 5.02 million viewers
02 - The Scarlett Bunny - 1.3 rating - 3.97 million viewers
03 - A Matter of Simple Duplicity - 1.2 rating - 3.47 million viewers

'The Playboy Club' started off bad with only 5 million viewers tuning in for the series premiere and it only got worse as the weeks went on. The producers received the call while in production of the sixth episode. Sitcoms can get as low as 3-5 million viewers to be considered a success while a drama must receive around 6-8 million viewers.
