Myers Writing Fourth 'Austin Powers'

Mike Myers has started writing a fourth "Austin Powers" which will be a homage to his father.

This fourth installment of the super spy spoof movie series will focus on Austin's arch-villain Dr. Evil and his relationship with his son Scott Evil (Seth Green).

It's very personal with a father and son theme loosely based on his own life.

Myers is apparently co-penning his idea with Mike McCullers who previously worked with Myers on the two 'Powers' sequels.

"Knight" Tops, "X-Files" Flops

"The Dark Knight" topped the box-office again this weekend with $75.6 million, down a very respectable 52% from last week's best all-time opening, and easily flying past the $300 million mark with a $314.2 million cume in just 10 days.

That makes the film the fastest ever to $300 million, taking 10 days whereas previous winner "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" took 16 days to do the same. The Batman sequel will likely pass the $314.9 million total gross of "Iron Man" in a few hours, and it is estimated the film will not only easily cross the $400 million mark but could head into a total gross in the $500 million range - making it the second highest earner of all time behind only "Titanic".

The rosy news continued as Will Ferrell comedy "Step Brothers" also opened this weekend in second place with a very impressive $30 million. Last week's musical "Mamma Mia!" took in $17.8 million, falling only 36% in its second weekend (one of the smallest second weekend drops of the year) and landed in third place. Everything else held well, "Journey to the Center of the Earth" having the smallest drop with a 23.7% fall while "Hellboy II: The Golden Army" had the largest with a 51.2% drop.

The only other wide release this weekend was "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" which pulled in a very disappointing $10 million opening. The film was critically maligned, getting only 33% positive reviews and a 4.9/10 average score on Rotten Tomatoes along with a 49/100 & 6.4/10 on Metacritic. Nevertheless with its relatively low budget ($30 million), Fox won't lose much on its investment.

Britney's Comeback 2 Be Huge

Britney Spears will be the biggest star in the world next year - according to the man who is penning songs for her new album.

British producer, songwriter and chart star Taio Cruz, is working on songs for the Spears.

Taio believes Britney will once again conquer the world - and that she was forced into recording her last album too soon.

“I have been writing and producing tracks for the new Britney record but as always with her, I’m not allowed to talk about the sound. Her career is riding on this record so I need to sit down and talk to her to make sure she is ready. The songs will be good - she has Kanye, Pharrell, Timbaland and me doing tracks for her. It is more a matter of whether she is mentally and physically ready for this. On the last album, Blackout, she was tired and people were forcing her to put another album out. If she is ready it will be huge - she just came with Blackout too early.”

Britney's sixth studio album is exprected at the top of 2009.

'Dark Knight' Continues 2 Devour It's Competition

'The Dark Knight' took in another $23.1 on Friday and is expected to make around $73 million this weekend.

The film is on track to beat the record set by 'Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest', which took in $300 million at the box office in 16 days.

'The Dark Knight' is expected to do that by day 10.

And, based on their continued strength and repeat business, it is even being mentioned that 'The Dark Knight' could beat 'Titanic' to become the biggest grossing film of all time.

Ciara's 'Fantasy Ride' 2 Be 3 CD Set

'Fantasy Ride' is the third studio album by Ciara. Ciara started recording in early January and finished recording in late July 2008. The album is slated to be released in November 2008 after being pushed back twice. She is working with producers Danja, The Clutch, T-Pain, Tricky Stewart, and Rodney Jerkins.

The first single is now set to be "Work" (produced by Danja), which will be released sometime in August 2008. Ciara has stated that "High Price" will not be the first single due to it being leaked too early.

She said: "My feelings were very hurt cause I wanted to present the single to my fans in the right way". She also stated that Akon, The-Dream, Lil John, and Ludacris will make guest appearances on the album.

'Fantasy Ride' will be released as an eclectic three-disc album rather than all the tracks on a single CD. Five to six songs will be featured on each disc supplying a different theme. The first disc entitled 'Groove City' contains slow jams similar to the single, "Promise". The second disc called 'Crunktown' includes crunk-influenced tracks reminiscing "Goodies". The third disc named 'Kingdom of Dance' provides up-tempo house and freestyle cuts.

The final track listing for 'Fantasy Ride' has not been confirmed yet but here are some of the confirmed tracks that will be present on 'Fantasy Ride':

Work (produced by Danja)
"Dream"
"Echo" (produced by Danja)
"When I" (produced by Champ Champ)
"Supernatural" (produced by Ne-Yo)
"Pride" (featuring & produced by Polow da Don)
"Fantasy Ride" (produced by Tricky Stewart)
"Cool On You" (produced by Jasper Cameron)
"High Price" (featuring Ludacris) (produced by Tricky Stewart)

'Madonna Confessions' Finally Gets A Release

The Confessions Tour photography book by Guy Oseary has been revived. It was previously due for release this summer but was cancelled, but now is available for pre-order again! Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk are taking pre-orders for the book which is due for release on 01 October 2008.

Photography and Introduction by Guy Oseary

MADONNA CONFESSIONS is the first official, inside book on the most famous woman in the world since the 1992 release of the landmark monograph Sex. With over 250 never-before-seen images taken by Guy Oseary and personally approved by Madonna, the book showcases the provocative themes of her live performances—from equestrian to urban Bedouin, and from glam punk to disco fever—and celebrates what The New York Times calls "the sheer spectacularity of her physical form." Enhanced with Madonna's short, sassy interspersed quotes, CONFESSIONS is a matchless, must-have record of one of the highlights of her career.

Guy Oseary is the CEO of Maverick and Madonna's manager. He has worked closely with Madonna for two decades. As Oseary was the only photographer allowed access to capture every single concert, this book contains the quintessential moments from the Confessions Tour.

'Dark Knight' Keeps Rollin In The Millions

As reported earlier this week, 'The Dark Knight' made $24 Million on Monday and another $20 Million on Tuesday.

Well it is still making lots of money, yesterday [Wednesday] it made another $18.4 Million dollars.

Since it's release on July 18, 2008, the film has grossed $222 Million in North America in 5 days. Not including the weekends tally, the film has grossed another $65 Million throughout the week. It could easily make another $25 Million dollars Thursday through Sunday making 'The Dark Knight' have a total of $90 Million for the second week in theatres.

$90 Million is unheard of when it comes to a second week in theatres. Millions of movies struggle to make $20 Million and hundreds of sequels struggle to make $50 Million. 'The Dark Knight' has already made $65 Million with only including [Monday - Wednesday].

I believe this film will make 'Titanic' run for the hills as the all-time grossing FILM!

'The Fame' Will Be Released In August

Lady GaGa will release her debut album 'The Fame' on August 19, 2008 in Canada and Europe. The American release will be released sometime in October 2008.

The lead single 'Just Dance' featuring. Colby O'Donis is a fun, catchy song that is destined to be a hit. It is doing amazing in Canada where it sits at #2 on the Canadian Hot 100, only second to 'I Kissed A Girl' by Katy Perry. 'Just Dance' is poised to take Perry's crown as the end of summer song.

'The Fame' track listing:

01 - "Just Dance"
02 - "Beautiful Dirty Rich"
03 - "Wonderful"
04 - "Rock Show"
05 - "Dirty Ice Cream"
06 - "Disco Heaven"
07 - "Love Game"
08 - "Boys Boys Boys"
09 - "Paparazzi"
10 - "The Fame"
11 - "I Miss U Babe"
12 - "Me&U"
13 - "Again Again"

'Just Dance' was released to radio in April 2008 and shows no signs of slowing down until September. The second rumoured single is 'Beautiful Dirty Rich' which would be a fantastic follow-up.

Mimi Will Tour This Fall/Winter

Mariah Carey returned to the MTV studios and spoke about her upcoming tour in support of her album 'E=MC2' which was released in April 2008.

What does Mariah want to do this time around? After all, her 'Adventures of Mimi: The Voice, the Hits, the Tour' was quite elaborate with nine costume changes.

"I'm thinking elaborate," she said. "I like elaborate. We only do substantial. That's what my jeweler says. I haven't gotten the looks in mind just yet, but we're going to figure it out soon enough."

Mariah did say that the tour would most likely start in November 2008 but could be put on hold until December or January 2009.

Timbaland' Working On 'Shock Value 2'

Timbaland released his second LP 'Shock Value' back in April 2007 and it spawned off three mega-hit singles and two hip/hop singles. Here is a list of the singles:

01 - Give It To Me [With/ Nelly Furtado &
Justin Timberlake]

02 - The Way I Are [With/ Keri Hilson & D.O.E.]

03 - Throw It On Me [With/ The Hives]

04 - Apologize [With/ OneRepublic]

05 - Scream [With/ Keri Hilson & Nicole Scherzinger]

The LP's follow-up, Shock Value 2, already has a few tracks in the can but no release date yet. Tim said he wants to stay away from working with some of the same folks he included last time, just to keep everyone guessing.

"Shock Value is really like the Now [That's What I Call Music!] compilation," he said. "That's my goal for this — not [to showcase] me as an artist. Of course I'll do my little part, introduce some people. It gives me room to go tour across the world. People request me. I put on a show. I put on a musical show.

"Right now, I have a song with Madonna that I didn't put on her album. I saved [it] in case I wanna do one for me," he revealed. "Of course I'mma do one with Beyoncé. Of course I'mma do one with Jordin Sparks, Rihanna. It's a lot of people. I'mma do one with Jonas Brothers. I'mma try to have 10 major ones."

On the hip-hop side, Timbo said he's looking at T.I., already has T-Pain and expects Jay-Z. "Jay was really on the last one, but he wanted to change [the song]," he said. "I said, 'Look, man, I gotta put out an album. You're killing me.' "

Can't wait for 'Shock Value 2' especially the songs with Madonna & Rihanna.

The Horror Of A 'Rocky' Remake

MTV is planning to remake the 1975 cult classic turned cultural institution "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

The new version will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.

The director and casting decisions have yet to be announced. The hope is for the project to be ready by Halloween 2009.

Why mess with such a classic?

John Waters Writing 'Hairspray' Sequel

John Waters will write a treatment for a sequel to last year's hit musical feature "Hairspray" for New Line.

The aim is to pick up the Baltimore saga of the Turnblad family after the resolution of the first film set in 1962.

Director/choreographer Adam Shankman, producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and Tony-winning songwriters Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will all return in the same capacities.

No cast has been set and none of the stars of the first such as John Travolta, Christopher Walken, Zac Efron, Queen Latifah and Michelle Pfeiffer had sequel options.

The studio plans to reunite the original cast and have the film out mid-July 2010.

Ian McKellen Reprises 'Gandalf' Role

After months of speculation, the cinematic legend that is Sir Ian McKellen has confirmed that he is indeed preparing to dust off his grey wizard robes and cultivate himself a long, flowing beard to play 'Gandalf the Gray' in Guillermo Del Toro’s [Pan's Labyrinth] adaptation of 'The Hobbit.'

Speaking at a special screening of The Dark Knight at London’s Imax cinema on Monday night, he said: "Well, I haven’t had the contract yet but it’s everyone’s intention that I play Gandalf so yes, I will be returning to the role. Although it’s not until 2010, I’m very much excited about returning.”

While the dotted line has yet to be formally signed upon, Sir Ian has spoken at length with Del Toro about the Lord Of The Rings prequels and he’s seemingly very happy at the idea of making the journey back to Middle Earth - albeit with a new director at the helm.

Can't wait 4 these prequels!

Duffy Follows-Up With 'Warwick Avenue'

Duffy, who has received a lot of attention in North America ever since her debut single 'Mercy' was released back in April 2008. Duffy will be in Toronto on August 5, 2008 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.

Duffy is set to release her fourth single in her homeland of the UK and will release her second single in North America in August. The single she has chosen will not be the amazing 'Rockferry' but the laidback 'Warwick Avenue'.

The video is set to be released to stations on August 14, 2008 with the single going to radio on August 6, 2008.

Winehouse Working On Third LP

Amy Winehouse has been working on her follow-up to her smash sophomore release 'Back To Black' for most of 2008. Here are some of the rumours circulating since the beginning of 2008.

After a surprise duet with Prince at the end of a London appearance, he proposed that she fly to his Minnesota home to work on a musical collaboration.

Meanwhile, George Michael wrote a song with which he wants to duet with Winehouse. Michael said "Amy is the best female vocalist I have ever heard in my entire career, as well as one of the best writers."

The singer expressed interest in working with Damian Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley, in Jamaica.

Winehouse has begun work on songs for a forthcoming album, in collaboration with Mark Ronson.

Pete Doherty said that Babyshambles had begun collaborating with the singer on a song entitled "You Hurt the Ones You Love". In May 2008, Doherty announced that he will duet with Winehouse on a track for the forthcoming Babyshambles album.
Winehouse is writing the song with Babyshambles guitarist Mick Whitnall. In addition Doherty said that Winehouse was "recording loads of new stuff" and that he is taking a "back seat" in the collaboration process.[63]

Winehouse said she has written "loads of songs" for the upcoming James Bond movie Quantum of Solace and "it’s up to them if they want it or not.”

According to a newspaper report Winehouse plans to start her own record label when she has fulfilled her contractual obligations to to her current label Island Records.

Hopefully the album will be amazing, like the last, and will be released by the end of 2008 or early 2009.

'Fashion Rocks 2008' Line-Up Announced

Fergie must have never heard the old adage about not repeating the same fashion — because she’s set to perform at Condé Nast’s Fashion Rocks for the third year running this fall.

Fergie Ferg won’t be the only repeat offender. The Black Eyed Peas, who joined her on one song two years ago, will also headline along with Beyoncé, who headlined in 2006 too.

Also coming back to the Fashion Rocks stage are Mariah Carey (who headlined in 2005) and Rihanna (who performed with Elton John in 2006). But this year’s show will have some new energy from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Duffy, Chris Brown and Lil Wayne for the event’s fifth anniversary. Keith Urban and Kid Rock are also on the bill.

The concert will take place September 5 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall and will be taped as a two-hour program to air four nights later, September 9, on CBS. Proceeds from the event will benefit Stand Up to Cancer.

'The Dark Knight' Kills All Box Office Records

"The Dark Knight" has broken the record books with the film taking in an estimated three-day opening weekend haul of $158.3 million - easilly beating the previous 'best opening weekend of all time' title held by "Spider-Man 3" with $151.1 million.

A $67.9 million haul on Friday combined with a $48 million Saturday total to yield the figure which gives the extraordinarily well-reviewed film an astonishing $35,579 per screen average across 4,366 theaters. Warners is estimating a Sunday figure of around $39.5 million, but no-one is certain how this will play out until accurate three-day figures come in tomorrow morning.

Internationally the film is also doing gangbuster business with a $40 million haul despite only opening in 20 countries which doesn't including major markets like the UK or Japan. Even if the drop-off is steep, unlikely considering the reviews, the film will easily pass the $300 million and likely push into the $400 million range by the time its finished its run - either way it'll be the biggest earner of the year and well ahead of nearest rivals Indiana Jones and Iron Man.

Both the success of 'Mia' and 'Knight' domestically this weekend led to $250 million in ticket sales overall - the biggest three-day weekend in terms of total grosses ever - easily throttling the previous record of $218.4 million on July 7th-9th 2006 when "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest" and "Superman Returns" dominated the frame.

Britney Seeks Revenge On New Album

Britney Spears is planning to use her new album to get revenge on those who have wronged her, according to a report today.

Following her highly-publicised personal problems, the pop star is spending the summer in the studio to work on the follow-up to her 2007 album 'Blackout'.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Spears has already penned a number of tracks. One, titled ‘ATM’, accuses her mother of using her for money. It contains the lyrics: “Hey Mama, I know it’s my cash you seek… You know they treat me like an ATM, but y’all know that I’m too good for ‘em.”

Another track reportedly suggests that Justin Timberlake was not her first lover. Titled ‘Already Bad’, it reveals: “I know you thought you were the first, but I had already quenched my thirst, I was already bad.”

An insider told the newspaper: “The songs are up tempo and there are some wicked heavy beats. She’s built on the foundations she laid in her last album, Blackout.

“These tunes will change the way people think about Britney. A lot of people have messed her around over the years and she’s bottled up all this anger and now she’s just let it all out.”

Lady GaGa Has Written 4 Britney

Lady GaGa 22, made the rounds on radio stations 99.9 FM & Z103.5 in Toronto today, and revealed she is working with Britney, and has already written & recorded two songs for Brit.

“When Mad-Dog (one of the morning show hosts) asked her [Lady Ga Ga] when the album would be released, she went on to say that she “couldn’t imagine it would be this year,” but probably mid-2009, as Britney was very much in the early stages of the album when she worked with her. She also went on to say that the album is very much a continuation to “Blackout,” but 10 times bigger in production value, and that the comeback would have people “regretting putting those videos of her on you tube.

Lady Ga Ga says her goal as an artist is to “funnel a pop record to a world in a very interesting way. I almost want to trick people into hanging with something that is really cool with a pop song. It’s almost like the spoonful of sugar and I’m the medicine.”

LGG is just one of many producers Britney is working with for her next album, including Jonathan JR Rotem, Sean Garrett, Guy Sigsworth, Danja. Jim Beanz, Darkchild, Kara Dioguardi, Taio Cruz, Babyface, Dallas Austin, Polow Da Don, Damon Elliott, The Runawayz, Fredwreck, Bloodshy & Avant, Bryan-Michael Cox, and now Lady Ga Ga.

'Sticky & Sweet' Rehearsals/Rumours - Update 5

There has been a little change in the 'Sticky & Sweet' Tour setlist. The 1989 classic song 'Like A Prayer', an all time fan favourite, has been recently added to the list of songs rehearsed by Madonna for the tour.

It is still not clear at the moment if the song is an addition to the already existing setlist or if it will replace one of the previously mentioned songs.

Like A Prayer enters the setlist rehearsals along huge hits of the same caliber such as Vogue, Ray Of Light, Into The Groove, La Isla Bonita, Hung Up and Music.
