'Darkchild' Lays Down 'Aggressive' Tracks 4 Britney

The Britney Spears Comeback Express is operating at full speed and thus far hasn’t had any bumps along the way, according to Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins.

After a seven-year break, the producer is collaborating with Britney again on her next album and is determined to “reinvent” the pop star with some edgy new sounds.

“I’m just trying some new things. I’ve always worked with Britney,” he tells Rap-Up TV. “I love working with her. I’m just trying to reinvent her and reinvent myself with her project.”

The two only started working four weeks ago, but have already laid down a few tracks and samples, described to be “very dance-y, very uptempo, in the clubs, real aggressive, and catchy…very, very hook-friendly.”

Rodney was most impressed with the 26-year-old’s professionalism and efficiency.

“It usually takes people a long time to record songs and we just did a song. She walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30 — did the whole song — in and out,” he says.

The album is due to hit shelves in 2009, and with things continuing to look up for the singer, Rodney thinks it’s definitely going to be the Year of Britney once more.

“I was very happy to see that she was working on the positive side and she’s moving toward new things now,” he says. “I think it’s about to be her time again.”

I am sooo excited about Britney's next record! I was hoping for Fall 2008...but I can wait til early 2009!

Here are the most recent 'Sticky & Sweet' World Tour updates:

- Madonna is currently testing a cover of Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell" to replace "Spanish Lesson" after "Buenos Aires".

- Another song has been shelved as of now. "Ray Of Light" - which was originally part of the Rock/Guitar section - is now out of the tentative setlist.

Producers Confirmed 4 Next Britney Record

Britney Spears has been low key ever since wrapping up the 'Blackout' era back in May 2008.

Britney has been in the studio recording the follow up to 'Blackout' with these just confirmed producers:

- Bloodshy & Avant (”Toxic”, “Piece Of Me”, “Do Somethin’”)
- Sean Garrett (”Toy Soldier”)
- JR Rotem (”Everybody”)
- Guy Sigworth (”Everytime”, “Someday (I Will Understand)”, “Over To You Now”)
- Danja (”Gimme More,” “Break The Ice”, “Get Back”, “Perfect Lover”, “Outta This World”)
- Jim Beanz (”Gimme More,” “Break The Ice”)
- Dallas Austin
- Fredwreck
- Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins (”Overprotected Darkchild Remix”)

'Blackout' was absolutely amazing and I am happy to see all the producers coming back. On top of that she has enlisted the flawless 'Dallas Austin' who has worked with TLC and Madonna.

Expect her sixth studio album this Fall.

Kelis' Independent Dance Record

Kelis is currently working on her 5th studio album working with Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo on an independent dance-pop record.

The album is being produced by Guy Chambers, who has previously collaborated with Robbie Williams. She Has no label at the moment since parting ways with LaFace/Jive in 2007.

The album could be released late 2008 or early 2009 and could include the following possible tracks released to ASCAP:

"Transitmaniac Life"
"Sleep"
"Sodom and Gomorah"
"Make up Sex"
"Speed Queen"

Lohan's 'Spirit' Coming In November

Lindsay Lohan is prepping her third studio album 'Spirit In The Dark' which is to be released on November 4, 2008.

'Spirit' will feature songs produced by Pharrell Williams, Akon, StarGate, Bloodshy & Avant, J.R. Rotem, Snoop Dogg and Ne-Yo.

The first single from "Spirit In The Dark" was to be "Bossy", however music video plans were canceled, and so was all promotion for the single. Lindsay then decided that "Bossy" was only a teaser to get fans prepped for the album.

'Spirits' first official single will be "Playground" featuring Pharell Williams, released in September 2008.

Lohan has also confirmed the following songs:

"The Way We Move"
"Good Foot (feat. Snoop Dogg)"
"Can't Wait To Fall In Love"
"Favorite Pastime"

Carrie Isn't Living 'Just A Dream'

Carrie Underwood's sophomore album 'Carnival Ride' was released on October 23, 2007 and has since spawned off three singles. The first, 'So Small' the second, 'All-American Girl' and third, 'Last Name' which was released in March 2008.

A fourth single has just been confirmed and it will be the touching ballad 'Just A Dream', one of my personal favorites on the album.

The video for the song was already filmed and will be released at the end of July 2008. It will be released to radio on July 4, 2008.

So You Think You Can Dance - Week 3

This week's Top 16 have now gone down to the Top 14.

Here are the two dancers who have gone home:

Katy Perry Lands 1,000th #1 on Billboard 100

Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl' has jumped from the #2 spot last week to #1 this week on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles.

"I Kissed a Girl" also becomes the 1,000th No. 1 of the rock era, which began with Bill Haley and His Comet's "Rock Around the Clock" in 1955. The first 39 of those on the Best Sellers list, and the remainder on the Billboard Hot 100.

Perry's debut album 'One Of The Boys' has opened at #9 on Billboard's Hot 200 Albums chart.

Winehouse Is Working On 'Back To Black' Follow-up

Amy Winehouse has spoken to Rolling Stone Magazine about the follow up to 2006's 'Back To Black'.

When asked what the next album will sound like, Amy responded with:

"Same stuff as my last album but with some ska." Have you started recording it yet? "It's not so much about recording, it's about whatever."

When asked about what the songs sound like, Amy responded with:

"When the songs are done, they'll be all atmospheric and cool like that. . . ." She does this sort of Sixties-ish Space Age Bond-girl dance, standing with a hip thrust to the side, wiggling her fingers, and opening her mouth. "Whaaaaa. "They might be like these girls I've been listening to, like the Shangri-Las."

Jennifer Put's 'Spotlight' On Bleak Music Year

Jennifer Hudson is ready to release her debut self-titled album this fall on September 30, 2008. The lead single is 'Spotlight' which was released digitally on June 10th and the video premiered on June 24, 2008.

'Spotlight' is a fantastic debut single from the former American Idol castoff and the Academy Award Winning Dreamgirl! It blends the perfect mix of her signature big voice while maintaining a pop/r&b feel for the radio. This single is going to blow up for her!

So far there have been two remixes leaked online including the not-so-bad Moto Blanco and the fantastic, amazing, crazy good remix by Johnny Vicious.

Ultra's 'Automatic' Gets Re-Released

Ultra Nate released her 5th studio album 'Grime Silk Thunder' on June 5, 2007 and has since spawned off three hit singles and two unofficial singles. there were two singles that were released as promotion. The two songs were 'Feel Love' and 'Freak On' and were released during Spring 2007.

The first official single 'Love Is The Only Drug' was released in June 2007 and was an instant hit among the Dance community. The second single 'Automatic' was released in September 2007. 'Give It All You Got' was released as the third single and was released in February 2008.

'Automatic' became one of her biggest hits this decade. Not since her 1998 album 'Situation: Critical' has Ultra Nate had such a huge hit. That album spawned off the hit singles 'Free' and 'Found A Cure'.

With 'Automatic' being the hit it was last summer, Ultra Nate has decided to rerelease the track this summer. dubbed 'Automatic 2008' was released this month, on June 17, 2008. Hopefully she will receive a whole new fan base with this rerelease, the track is one of the standouts on the album.

Britney And 'The Unstoppable Tour'

Britney Spears official website 'Britney.com' made a poll asking her fans what her next world tour should be called and out of the 6,379 of her fans that voted, 2,849 (almost half!) of them chose 'Unstoppable' as the name for Britney's next tour.

I wonder when she will tour, I am guessing next summer because she is currently in the studio working on her sixth studio album, follow up to 'Blackout' which is supposed to be released this Christmas 2008.

Annie Set 2 Go 'Loco' With Second Single

Annie is set to release her second single 'Loco' next week on July 2, 2008. Her sophomore album 'Don't Stop' still does not have a specific release date but will be coming to stores in September 2008.

Annie's first single 'I Know Ur Girlfriends Hates Me' was released back in April 2008 and is still burning up the charts across Europe.

Badu's 'New Amerykah' Turning Into A Trilogy

Erykah Badu released her fourth studio album 'New Amerykah Part 1: 4th World War' on February 26, 2008 and debuted at number 2.

The album spawned off two singles, the first 'Honey' was released in February 2008 and the second, 'Soldier' was released in May 2008.

Badu is set to release part 2 entitled 'New Amerykah Part 2: Return Of The Ankh'. 'Return of the Ankh' is set for a July 2008 released and is to be accompanied by a USB stick which Badu says will include extras ranging from footage of concerts, to commentary on the recording process - “I wanted to give away my materials…It’s about sharing, and that’s why I like this system”.

Erykah has stayed tight-lipped about any further releases but has said there will definitely be a third New Amerykah to be added to the collection. The title of her sixth studio album [3rd in the 'New Amerykah' series] will be called 'New Amerykah Part 3: Lowdown Loretta Brown'.

Ms. Badu has said one thing about the third release and that is 'it’s a “period piece” and “I don’t want to introduce too much of that right now. I don’t want Gwen Stefani stealing my shit".

I am very excited about the continuation of this amazing series. Part 1 was a wacky, crazy, experimental album set in the future. Part 2 is said to be more like Erykah's previous efforts meaning more of a Neo Soul sound. Part 3 is a period piece!!!

Lady Gaga Is Coming This Summer

Lady Gaga will be releasing her debut album this summer, tentatively for an August 2008 release. The album dubbed 'The Fame' will be released on Interscope/Universal Records.

Lady Gaga's debut single 'Just Dance' which features label mate 'Colby O'Donis' was released digitally back in April 2008. The video was released in early June and the radio release was last week. 'Just Dance' is just starting to gain airplay after two months of release. It has been dubbed 'The Song of the Summer' by many critics.

Ms. Gaga released an EP entitled 'Just Dance' last week with five songs that will appear on her debut album 'The Fame'. The songs that are featured on the EP mix pop, Disco, Dance, Electro Pop and House music and includes the following songs:

01 - Just Dance [Featuring. Colby O'Donis]
02 - Beautiful Dirty Rich
03 - Rock Show
04 - Dirty Ice Cream
05 - Boys Boys Boys

Be sure to pick up the debut album 'The Fame' when it hits shelves in August 2008.

'Jesus Doesn't Love' Dragonette

Dragonette released their debut album 'Galore' back in September 2007. So far four singles have been released including first single 'Take It Like A Man' which was released in July 2007. The second single 'I Get Around' was released in October 2007 and became a Top 10 hit in their native Canada.

The third single 'Competition' was a radio-only single released this past February 2008 and did not receive a video. Their fourth single 'Jesus Doesnt Love Me' was released to radio/video music channels in June 2008.

The album is chocked full of hits and hopefully will see at least one more single. There are two songs that I would love to see released as the fifth single either 'True Believer' or 'Marvellous'.

Dragonette are currently on tour across Europe but are able to stop by Toronto for PRIDE WEEK when they take the stage on Saturday, June 28, 2008!

Weezy Cracks 1 Million With 'Tha Carter III'

With "Tha Carter III," Lil Wayne becomes the first artist since 50 Cent in 2005 to sell more than 1 million copies of an album in a single week.

In its first week on the market, "Tha Carter III" (Cash Money/Universal) sells just over 1 million units. The last album to top that milestone was 50 Cent's "The Massacre" in March 2005.

No album in 2006 sold as many as 800,000 copies in a single frame, and the largest sales week since "The Massacre" belonged to Kanye West's "Graduation," which netted an opener of 957,000 copies last year when it hit stores on Sept. 11.

Lil Wayne first appeared on The Billboard 200 in 1999. His previous biggest sales week was a 238,000-unit start for "Tha Carter II" in 2005. That set entered The Billboard 200 at No. 2 while becoming his fourth No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

NIN 'The Slip Hits Stores in July

Nine Inch Nails' "The Slip," which was made available as a free download from the band's Web site in May, will be released on CD July 22, with distribution via RED.

In the United States, Canada and parts of Japan, the two-disc set is limited to 200,000 individually numbered copies in digipak form. It will include a bonus DVD of Nine Inch Nails performing material from "The Slip" during rehearsals, as well as a 24-page booklet and stickers.

The same package will be available in Europe, Australia and the United Kingdom but will not be limited or numbered.

"The Slip" will also be available on vinyl Aug. 5 in the United States and Canada and a day before internationally; this incarnation will not be limited. Frontman Trent Reznor promises the album will remain free to download "indefinitely" from the band's site.

Nine Inch Nails begins a summer tour July 25 at British Columbia's Pemberton Festival.
