NBC Cancels 'Smash'

ABC has cancelled its sophomore musical drama, 'Smash' starring Debra Messing and Anjelica Houston after two low-rated seasons.

The second season premiered to over four million viewers which is not good. The next six episodes saw the series drop to two million an episode which is very low for a drama series on a network. Once it hit the two million mark, NBC decided to relocate the show to Saturday nights which is basically a death sentence. The only reason NBC didn't pull the show completely is because Steven Spielberg put a lot of money into the series agreed to let it play out for the entire season.

Here is a list of the last-five aired episodes:
10 - The Surprise Party - April 6 - 1.88 million viewers
11 - The Dress Rehearsal - April 13 - 1.80 million viewers
12 - Opening Night - April 20 - 1.91 million viewers
13 - The Producers - April 27 - 1.89 million viewers
14 - The Phenomenon - May 4 - 2.28 million viewers

The two-hour series finale will air next Sunday, May 26.
