Another "Grey's" Character Bites The Dust

"Grey's Anatomy" is quickly becoming a joke. I have loved it since the beginning when it premiered after "Desperate Housewives" in 2005.

The first three seasons were must-see television, but when season four started it started to lose its charm. With season five currently airing right now it has been pretty boring, this Thursday will mark its 14th episode and if you asked me what happened a month ago I wouldn't have the slightest idea. It's pretty bad when the only thing you remember from past episodes are the musical scores. Last week's episode had Santogold's "Light's Out" and before the Christmas break Kanye's "Street Lights." What happened on those episodes? Don't ask me.

In the last two years the show execs have fired Isiah Washington and Brooke Smith from the series and the amazing Kate Walsh left to star in her own spin-off "Private Practice" which don't even get me started on, she should have stayed on "Grey's." They have tried to spice it up by bringing in new characters but I still truly miss Brooke and Kate.

Rumours are swirling on the net about a possible T.R. Knight departure at the end of the season. This would not be a surprise because his character of "George O'Malley" has done didley-Squat this season. He passed his intern exam to become a real doctor and that is about it. Since that episode he has been reduced to a character that has about one - two lines per episode. Just this past Thursday, his only line of the entire episode was "I was just leaving" which was said to Meredith because there was no more seats left at the cafeteria, so he got up and let her sit in his seat. If I was him I would want to leave as well, unless they start to give him a bigger role, he deserves it, he was one of the original six from the first episode.

This now brings me to the latest cast member to get the axe. Melissa George who plays Meredith's previous BFF Sadie Harris has recently spoken out about her departure. She told Entertainment Weekly that her character will be leaving Seattle Grace within the next two months. She was offered a series regular spot for season six, but turned it down. As for her exit from the series, “it won’t be a big send off, but it’s really cool what they do,” George said.

Ok so let me get this straight. First Sara Ramirez's character Callie Torres starts to date Brooke Smith's character Erika Hawn and the show's execs quickly decide to let Erika Hawn leave the show. Once Brooke Smith left the show, Sadie Harris played by Melissa George's character becomes attracted to Callie and now her character is suddenly out of the picture as well. I am starting to think that Shonda Rhimes and the whole ABC execs do not want anything to do with homosexuals. Shonda spoke out when Brooke Smith's character was fired and said it has nothing to do with her being a lesbian, but how are they going to explain the second LGBT character to get the axe in one season?

Let's wait and see how their PR people fix this. GLAAD is going to be all over their asses.
