Britney Keeps Breakin Records!

Britney Spears sixth studio album, "Circus" debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 today.

This is her fifth #1 album out of six. "Blackout" was to be #1 last year but Wal-Mart released the sales figures from the Eagles album which bumped "Blackout" to number 2.

Among female artists, only four have earned more No. 1 albums than Britney Spears: Barbra Streisand (eight), Madonna (seven) and Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson (both with six). When Britney releases her next album if it goes to #1 than she will be in a three-way tie for third place with Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson.

This is a huge achievement because Britney's career is only at 9 years, while Mariah Carey is currently at 18 and Janet Jackson at 22 years.

In other news, Britney has also made Billboard history with "Circus" because it makes Spears the only act in Nielsen SoundScan history to have four albums debut with 500,000 or more. Previously, her second, third and fourth sets all racked up half-million weeks: 2000's "Oops! I Did It Again" started with 1.3 million, 2001's "Britney" debuted with 746,000 and 2003's "In the Zone" entered the chart with 609,000. "Circus" debuted with 505,000.
