"She Needs 2 B Disciplined!"

Janet Ms. Jackson if your Nasty has truly been on a downward spiral since the release of her 5th studio album "The Velvet Rope" eleven years ago.

Since October 1997 with the release of "The Velvet Rope" she has released four more studio albums "All For You" in 2001, "Damita Jo" in 2004, "20 Y.O." in 2006 and "Discipline" in 2008.

Her album "All For You" was a catchy pop album but lacked any songs that you could dance to and want to play over and over again. "Damita Jo" was a straight up R&B album where she hardly sang any of her songs, the songs came out more as a whisper than anything else. "20.Y.O." was supposed to be her "comeback" album because it was released 20 years to the date of her first major successful album "Control." The album was a waste of money, there were 13 songs and yet only three of them were up-tempo. The rest were her "whispering and whimpering" which truly annoys me. Back in the 80s she sang her songs and if you can remember every single she released was an instant hit. Now she releases songs where you can hardly hear her voice and they go no where. I am not saying that album sales are what make an artist great and successful, because I love many artists who do not receive any airplay or videoplay and they are amazing!

This year she released "Discipline" which is supposed to be her "comeback" album, sure it went to number 1 in the USA, but will it have any staying power by the summer? I think not! Why? That's easy. The entire album is a carbon copy of the last three albums she has released since 2001. "All For You," "Damita Jo," "20 Y.O.," and now "Discipline" are identical in music, vocals, production and everything in between.

The album includes the token "Rock song" where she has guitars and drums used, the album includes 2 - 3 songs that are "sexual songs" that have lyrics like "slap me, tie me up, I am moist, MMMM" 3 - 4 songs that are "danceable" etc. She has used the same formula with the last four albums.

The way the music industry is going, an established artist cannot release album after album of the same material. People get bored. I have been a Janet fan since the beginning but I want an album that sounds like nothing else out there, something that will truly blow my mind, Janet has yet to do that!

I rate the album "5/10." Come on Janet, start to take some risks, if you want to keep those core fans you have had since 1986!
