"True Blood" Is A Massive Hit
The second season premiere of "True Blood" was the highest rated program for HBO since the finale of The Sopranos.
According to the Nielson ratings, 3.7 million viewers tuned in to "True Blood". The ratings are up 157% from the first season's premiere and up 51% than last season's finale.
"True Blood: The Complete First Season" DVD has sold over 1 million copies in the first two months of release. The disc set was released two months ago and has already made $35 million in total sales, worldwide.
This past week, "True Blood" posted its highest ratings yet for the series when 3.9 million viewers turned in for episode 5 of season two.
"True Blood" is one of my top five shows on TV (Heroes, United States of Tara, Weeds and Dexter) being the others, although Nurse Jackie and Hung are new additions. I am glad it's finally getting the attention it deserves.
Freddy Is Coming Back In 2010
Harry Potter Has Stellar Weekend Opener
The Harry Potter franchise kept the cauldrons churning with the release of its sixth installment, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," which drew $77.8 million on approximately 9,600 screens at 4,325 locations over the weekend. Compared to last year, though, when The Dark Knight blazed into the record books, overall weekend business was down a sharp 38 percent, and attendance was a bit soft versus the more normal weekends of years past, due in part to Harry Potter being the sole new nationwide release.
In its first five days, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" pulled in $158 million, surpassing predecessor "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix's" $139.7 million as the franchise's highest-grossing five-day start and ranking sixth among all movies. The bulk of Half-Blood Prince's lead over Order of the Phoenix came from its $58.2 million opening day, while Thursday through Saturday were slightly ahead and Sunday was a bit behind Order of the Phoenix. Order of the Phoenix's first weekend wasn't far behind at $77.1 million, and it ended its run at $292 million.
Unlike "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince's" opening did not include a significant IMAX release, because "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" still occupies those screens. Half-Blood Prince played at only three IMAX venues in Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago, which accounted for an estimated $338,000 of the five-day opening. The picture is scheduled for around 165 IMAX venues on July 29.
On the foreign front, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" delivered the highest-grossing foreign opening ever with $236 million from 54 territories. The previous benchmark was "Spider-Man 3" with $230.5 million, while "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" began with $193 million from 44 territories. Add in the domestic gross, and Half-Blood Prince's five-day worldwide opening was $394 million, again topping "Spider-Man 3," which came in at $381.7 million.
"Drawn Together" Becomes A Film
Comedy Central and Paramount Home Entertainment are planning a direct-to-disc movie version of cult show "Drawn Together" for release March 2010.
"The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie!", the first based on the property, has the mystery-solving musician Foxxy noticing she and her fellow housemates can suddenly curse without being bleeped.
They realize that their show has been cancelled and start fighting to get it back on the air. The release allows the show's material to be released without basic cable restrictions.
I can't wait for this! The TV series was hilarious!
Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" Release Date
Tim Burton is set to release his next motion picture, "Alice in Wonderland" based on an adaptation of the Lewis Carroll novels "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass."
The film will use a technique combining live action, motion capture technology, and stop motion. Mia Wasikowska will play the role of Alice, alongside Johnny Depp as The Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as The Red Queen, and Anne Hathaway as The White Queen.
The film is due for release on March 5, 2010 and the film will be released in Disney Digital 3-D and IMAX 3-D, as well as 2-D.

I am still confused about True Blood and United States of Tara! Both shows were totally left out and I cannot understand. At least Toni Collette was nominated for best Actress.

Electrik Red 2 Release "P Is For Power"
Lady GaGa Makes Top 40 History
Lady GaGa becomes just the third artist in the 16-year history of the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart to collect three No. 1 songs from a debut album. "LoveGame" rises 2-1, marking Lady GaGa's third No. 1, following "Just Dance" (two weeks) and "Poker Face" (five weeks). The three songs appear on her top five Billboard 200 album, "The Fame."
Lady GaGa joins just two prior artists in accomplishing the triumphant triple play.
In 1993-94, Ace Of Base reigned consecutively on Mainstream Top 40 with three cuts from its debut set "The Sign": "All That She Wants," the title cut (No. 1 for a chart-record 14 weeks) and "Don't Turn Around."
In 2002-03, Avril Lavigne repeated the feat with a trio of tracks from her debut release "Let Go": "Complicated" (eight weeks), "Sk8er Boi" (one week) and "I'm With You" (four weeks).
On the Billboard Hot 100, "Just Dance" spent three weeks at No. 1, and "Poker Face" led for one frame. As of last week, "LoveGame" was bulleted at No. 5 on the Hot 100, its highest ranking to date.

Erykah Working On "New Amerykah: Part 2"
Just a little over a year after releasing her fourth studio album, "New Amerykah, Pt. 1: 4th World War," Erykah Badu is back with the second installment tentatively titled "New Amerykah, Pt. 2: Return Of The Ankh." Although no release date has been announced yet, sources close to the singer confirm she is currently in the studio working with long-time collaborator James Poyser ("Love Of My Life," "Danger").
I cannot wait for Part 2! If it is anything like Part 1, I am gonna die!
Madonna Wants A "Celebration"
More Madonna news just leaked. Originally titled "Iconography" Madonna's third greatest hits collection will now be titled "Celebration."
"Celebration" will be released on September 22 with first single, "Celebrate" sent to radio on July 28.
Also, originally three new tracks were to be on the collection including, "Broken," "Celebrate" and "I'm Sorry." But now as it stands today, there will only be two new tracks, "Celebrate" and a new track titled "Revolver." "Broken" and "I'm Sorry" will not be on the collection.
Last but not least, "Celebration", the hits collection, will be a double album. Not sure what's going to be on the official track listing but I am sure it will include all her tracks from 1982 up until now! I cannot even wait! This is going to be my favourite album!
M-Dolla Wants 2 "Celebrate" Next Month
Sugababes 2 Release "Sexy" Lead Single
Sugababes are set to release their lead single from their as-yet-untitled seventh studio album.
"Get Sexy" will be released digitally on August 16 with a music video to follow sometime in August. "Get Sexy" will be released to radio on August 4, 2009.
The song is also expected to be the Sugababes' first major single release in the North America, although "Round Round" and "Hole In The Head" charted there in 2002 & 2004.
Lily Allen Won't Be "22" For Much Longer
Lily Allen is set to release her third North American(fourth European) single, off her sophomore album, "It's Not Me, It's You."
Lily Allen released "The Fear" and "Not Fair" as worldwide singles than released "Fuck You" as the third official single, but North America refused to play the song or show the video so it was downgraded to just a European single.
Now we have her third official single in North America, "22" which will be released to radio on July 27, 2009. The digital release will follow on July 30 and a music video will follow that on August 4, 2009.
Ciara 2 Release "Like A Surgeon"
Ciara is set to release her third North American single from her third studio album, "Fantasy Ride."
Ciara released "Never Ever," "Love Sex Magic" and "Work" as the third European single. "Like A Surgeon" was released on June 15, 2009 to urban radio and will impact pop radio on July 27, 2009. The music video will be released the week of August 2, 2009.
I think "Like A Surgeon" is a great "album" track, not single choice. I would have rather had "Work," "G Is For Girl" or "Pucker Up" as the third single. Hopefully those tracks will get their day in the spotlight.
Little Boots Has A "Remedy" For Us
Little Boots is set to release her second official single from her debut album, "Hands."
Little Boots released "Stuck On Repeat" and "Meddle" as stand alone singles before the album release and than released "New In Town" as her official lead single.
"Remedy" will be released digitally on August 14 with a music video to follow on August 20.
Kelly 2 Release "Already Gone" Next
Kelly Clarkson is set to release her third official single from her fourth studio, "All I Ever Wanted."
The third official single, "Already Gone" will be released to radio on August 12. It will be released digitally on August 20 with a music video to follow in September.
This song is a great choice for the fall and I hope Kelly releases at least three more singles, making the total six. "If I Can't Have You, "Don't Let Me Stop You" and "Long Shot" should all be singles in my books.
Katy Perry Is Choosing Her Next Single
Katy Perry is currently choosing her sixth single from her debut album, "One of the Boys" which was released back in June 2008.
Katy released "Ur So Gay," "I Kissed A Girl," "Hot N Cold," "Thinking Of You" and "Waking Up In Vegas." There are two standout tracks that are being chosen for the sixth single, "Mannequin" and "If You Can Afford Me." Both tracks are great, I like them both, but I would choose "If You Can Afford Me."
Let's see which one gets chosen. Which ever one is chosen will not be on the radio until September.
