ABC has officially canceled freshman action drama 'Charlie's Angels' after the fourth episode aired last night.
The series started out on rocky ground when it premiered four weeks ago and has since not been able to pull in new viewers. The final nail-in-the-coffin was last night's ratings. For the last three weeks 'Charlie's Angels' has been in fourth place for the 8 o'clock hour behind CBS's 'The Big Bang Theory,' Fox's 'The X-Factor' and NBC's 'Community.' but last night 'Angels' fell to fifth place behind The CW's 'The Vampire Diaries' which was only a matter of time.
Also it doesn't help when ABC's 9 o'clock hour and 10 o'clock hour are #1 with their veteran shows 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Private Practice.' However, ABC announced that it would hault production but the episodes already filmed will be shown at its regular timeslot until all episodes have aired. For the Mid-season I feel ABC will go with an all Shonda Rhimes drama night on Thursdays by placing her third drama, 'Scandal' in 'Charlie's' place come January.
Here is a breakdown of the already aired episodes:
01 - Angel With a Broken Wing - 2.1 rating - 8.76 million viewers
02 - Runaway Angels - 1.5 rating - 7.11 million viewers
03 - Bon Voyage, Angels - 1.2 rating - 5.93 million viewers
04 - Angels in Chains - 1.3 rating - 5.96 million viewers
