Bjork 2 Release 'Bastards' Remix Album

Bjork is set to release a remix album in support of her eighth studio album, 'Biophilia' which was released in 2011.

'Bastards' is the third remix album from Bjork and will feature 13 remixes from every track off of 'Biophilia.' All of the remixes were previously released on 'The Crystalline Series' or the 'Biophilia Series' on Vinyl but will finally see a digital/CD release.

Bjork 2 Release 2-Disc 'Biophilia'

Bjork was set to release her eighth studio album, 'Biophilia' this week however she decided to push it back to October 11.


The push back to October 11 was done so the album could include a bonus disc 'Live from Manchester.' The live disc was recorded back in June when she did a residency at the Manchester International Festival.

Bjork 2 Release 'Biophilia'

Bjork is set to release her seventh studio album, 'Biophilia' on September 27, 2011.


'Biophilia' will be Bjork's first album since 2007's 'Volta' and is the longest break between albums in Bjork's career. The album is partly recorded on an iPad and will be released in the form of a series of apps as well as a standard CD release. 'Biophilia' will be the worlds 'first app album' in collaboration with Apple.


Bjork has described the project as a multimedia collection encompassing music, apps, internet, installions and live shows. She will release three promo singles/apps to iTunes in support of the album release. The first promo single, 'Cosmogony' was released on July 19, 'Virus' will be released on August 9 and the final promo single 'Moon' will be released on September 6.


Every song has a subtitle, while some subtitles refer to the physical phenomena related to the song, others may refer to musical resources related to those physical phenomena.

Bjork Releases 'Crystalline' Remixes

Bjork is set to release her seventh studio album, 'Biophilia' on September 27, 2011.


The first single, 'Crystalline' a double a-side single along with 'Cosmogony' was released to radio late last month and has been doing quite well on the Alternative charts across the world. The music video premiered today, just in time for the 'Crystalline Series' which is a set of four singles with remixes, b-sides and the second single.


'The Crystalline Series' includes four remixes of 'Crystalline,' five remixes of her second single, 'Cosmogony' and two b-sides that won't be on the album.

Bjork 2 Release 'Crystalline'

Bjork is set to release her lead single from her forthcoming seventh studio album, 'Biophilia.'


The lead single, 'Crystalline' will be released to iTunes on July 4. The music video will premiere in late July. 


There is still no word yet when the new album, 'Biophilia' will be released but a September 2011 release seems accurate. 


This will be the first single since 'The Dull Flame of Desire' in 2008. 

Bjork 2 Release Collaborative EP

Bjork is set to release a special collaborative EP with Dirty Projectors on June 30. 


The EP titled, "Mount Wittenberg Orca" is a joint effort featuring tracks originally written for a New York benefit concert back in 2009.


Recorded at the Rare Book Room inBrooklyn with Nicolas Vernhes, all proceeds from the release will go to help marine conservation.

"We've decided to give away all the money that 'Mount Wittenberg Orca' generates to the project of creating international marine protected areas," Dirty Projectors'David Longstreth said in statement to Stereogum.com. "Only 1% of the oceans are protected in any way and this is a huge problem."

Bjork 2 Create "Scientific Musical" 3D Film

Björk and film director Michel Gondry have started collaborating on a film, Gondry has revealed. The pair are devising a "scientific musical", which they plan to screen in museums.

"We have a very ambitious project," Gondry said as part of a panel at SXSW. "A 40-minute IMAX project in 3D." While he offered no further details, at least he was more forthcoming than the first time the project came up. "It's very undefined," he told Entertainment Weekly last month. "It's hard to give more precision.

Gondry and Björk are certainly no strangers to one-another. Music videos for "Army of Me" and "Joga" were some of the main ways Gondry broke into filmmaking, and he has directed a total of seven clips for the Icelandic singer. The most recent was 2007's "Declare Independence."

This is incredible! Bjork and her label love spoiling her fans! I cannot wait for this to be in my hands! Bjork released each single off the "Volta" album on vinyl with the music video and the remixes and I am so happy I decided to wait and not get them. This is gonna be pricey but I am totally gonna be at HMV the day it comes out and waiting at the front door because I know this is gonna go fast.

Bjork Readies "Volta" Box Set

Bjork is set to release a box set of her most recent studio album, "Volta" which was released in May 2007.

The box set will titled "Voltaic" and will be released in March 2009. As mentioned on this blog all the way back in April 2008 it seems Bjork is finally ready to release this collection.

Bjork's official website just uploaded this statement about "Voltaic":

We are announcing Voltaic, the celebration of Volta and the Volta live show. The release will consist of various live recordings from Paris and Reykjavik. The live set was also recorded in a studio in London, which will undoubtedly give us some rare glimpse into the development of the live set.

The release will be availble as Standard, Deluxe and Deluxe Vinyl. Björk did document the tour extensively and now we will be able to enjoy this work in a new light and new sound.

The box set will include four discs (2 CDs and 2 DVDs in the deluxe edition) and two discs (1 CD and 1 DVD in the standard edition).

The standard edition will include an audio CD with selections from the "Volta" tour and a DVD with the full "Volta" concert.
The deluxe edition will include both discs listed above and another CD with all the remixes from the "Volta" era and another DVD with the "Volta" music videos.

Bjork Turns Venture Capitalist

Bjork has partnered with a Reykjavik-based venture capital firm on a fund that will invest in companies that are socially and environmentally responsible and will help restore Iceland's battered economy.

The Icelandic artist established the venture fund with Audur Capital and given her name to it.

BJORK is intended for investors seeking opportunities in new venture creation and the development of small companies with the objective of helping the recovery of the Icelandic economy.

The BJORK venture fund will be run by Audur Capital, which has put down the initial investment of 100 million Iceland kronur ($826,000). It is seeking investors to participate in the fund with investments to close by March 2009.

"The fund will invest in sustainable businesses that create value through the country's unique resources, spectacular nature, vibrant culture and green energy," according to Audur Capital's Web site.

It also states that Bjork "has become a spokeswoman for innovation, creative thinking and increased diversity in the Icelandic economy."

Bjork 2 Release New Single Very Soon

According to the Bjork camp, she will release a new single, "Nattura," on October 20, 2008 via One Little Indian, featuring backing vocals from Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke.

The only problem: according to Radiohead's management, Yorke hasn't recorded anything new with Bjork, although the possibility remains that his contribution is a sample or was taped at some point in the past.

No additional information about the nature of the collaboration was available at deadline about "Nattura," which shares its name with an organization devoted to protecting Iceland's environment. Bjork played a benefit concert with fellow Iceland natives Sigur Ros on behalf of Nattura this summer.

Bjork 2 Release 'Volta Tour' DVD

Bjork just finished her world-wide 'Volta Tour' this past Tuesday, August 26, 2008 when she performed in her homeland Iceland.

Bjork performed in a church called "Langholtskirkja" which is in the capital city Reykjavík in Iceland. The 'Volta Tour' started in April 2007 and went strong through North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Bjork performed many tracks from her 6 studio albums which included 48 songs.
