NBC has renewed its long-running comedy '30 Rock' starring Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin for a seventh and final season.
'30 Rock' has been a pretty good hit for NBC, however this current season has seen a pretty significant ratings drop off in viewership. The six season premiere was watched by over four million viewers but recent episodes have only had between two-three million viewers. NBC could have just canceled the series but because '30 Rock' is one of their only shows that receives award-recognition it has decided to let it get a proper farewell send off next year.
Here is the break down of the last five aired episodes:
Episode 16 - Nothing Left to Lose - April 5 - 2.79 million viewers
Episode 17 - Meet the Woggels - April 12 - 2.98 million viewers
Episode 18 - Murphy Brown Lied to Us - April 19 - 3.06 million viewers
Episode 19 - Live From Studio 6H - April 26 - 3.47 million viewers
Episode 20 - Queen of Jordan 2: Mystery of the Phantom Pooper - May 3 - 3.04 million viewers
The seventh and final season will consist of 13 episodes to air in the fall of 2012. The penultimate episode airs tonight while the season six finale airs next Thursday, May 17, 2012.
