The CW has renewed its long-running reality competition 'America's Next Top Model' starring Tyra Banks.
Next week, February 29th will mark the 18th cycle (season) of Top Model when it airs its special British Invasion cycle. The new cycle will include aspiring models from America and the UK, a first in Top Model history. Over the last 17 cycles, Top Model has kept a pretty consistent model, 14 girls from across the US competing to be top model.
Tyra Banks has stated that starting with next week's 'British Invasion' cycle, Top Model will never be the same again. Each cycle will include a specific crop of models competing.
The CW renewed 'Top Model' for a 19th season and it will air in the Fall of 2012. This cycle will be called 'The College Edition' and will include girls from across America's Universities and Colleges. This is the first show to receive an early renewel. Still on the chopping block: The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, Gossip Girl, 90210, Hart of Dixie, Supernatural, Ringer, Remodeled and Nikita.
