HBO has renewed its medieval fantasy 'Games of Thrones' starring Peter Dinkladge and Lena Headey for a third season.
After only airing two of the 10 episodes of season two, HBO greenlit a third season after the incredible ratings for the second season premiere on April 1st. The season premiere was viewed by almost four million viewers which is a huge jump from the two million who watched the series premiere in April 2011.
With repeat viewings of the first two episodes, 'Game of Thrones' is watched by over eight million viewers. Which makes 'Thrones' HBO's second biggest audience, following 'True Blood.' The jump in viewership is thanks to the first season sets on DVD/Blu-Ray which were released back in March. 'Games of Thrones.' The sets were HBO's biggest TV sales in its history, beating out 'True Blood.'
