HBO Has Canceled 'Luck'

HBO has canceled its freshman drama series, 'Luck' starring Dustin Hoffman after only one season.

Back in January, 'Luck' was renewed for a second season to air in January 2013. However just yesterday, HBO has decided to halt production on season two and will no longer continue with the series. Following the deaths of three horses on three seperate accidents HBO felt pressured to cancel the show. PETA responded and was happy with the decision, however they stated the producers could have used old stock footage of horse racing in place of new footage.

The current season will air its penultimate episode and series finale on March 18 and 25, 2011. No word yet on whether any episodes of season two were already finished filming. The cancelation could also be blamed on ratings. The series was renewed after only the first episode which was not the smartest idea. The series premiere was viewed by 1.14 million viewers while the rest of the series was only watched by 400,000 - 500,000 viewers. Which is low in comparison to other HBO dramas.

Here is a break down of the already aired episodes:
01 - 1.14 million viewers
02 - 0.43 million viewers
03 - 0.55 million viewers
04 - 0.44 million viewers
05 - 0.50 million viewers
06 - 0.69 million viewers
07 - 0.47 million viewers
