HBO has renewed its freshman poltical drama 'The Newsroom' starring Jeff Daniels and Emily Mortimer for a second season.
'The Newsroom' has been an OK hit for HBO, however HBO usually renews every freshman series for a second season regardless of ratings and viewership. The only series I can remember not receving a second season would be the fantastic Lisa Kudrow sitcom 'The Comeback.' The series premiere was watched by over two million people, however, the next episode has dropped to under two million.
HBO has not announced how many episodes have been ordered for the second season, but most likely another ten episodes will be made unless viewership keeps dropping.
Here is the break down of the already aired episodes:
Episode 01 - We Just Decided To - June 24 - 2.14 million viewers
Episode 02 - News Night 2.0 - July 1 - 1.68 million viewers
The season finale, 'The Greater Fool' will air on August 26, 2012.
