'The Killing' was never a huge hit for AMC, it's season one finale was huge bringing in over three million viewers. However, once it was finished and the fans of the series didn't see who actually killed 'Rosie Larson' the second season premiere dropped drastically. The second season premiere only saw 1.8 million viewers Since its season two premiere in April, 'The Killing' had been steadily dropping in viewers and the now series finale only saw 1.4 million viewers tune in.
AMC could have had a huge hit on their hands if the executive producer resolved season long murder investigation in one season and started fresh with season two.
