Britney's "Circus" On Track 2 Debut At #1

Britney Spears' sixth studio album, "Circus," is on track to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 next week.

Unweighted first-day sales of "Circus" through the close of business yesterday stood at 219,000. Billboard estimates the eight merchants who report to Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart -- Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Circuit City, iTunes, Starbucks, Borders, Target and Anderson Merchandisers -- comprise about 80% of all U.S. album sales.

Sources close to the project suggest that "Circus" could move as much as 450,000 in its first week.

If "Circus" arrives atop the tally, it will be Spears' fifth No. 1 album. Among female artists, only four have racked up more chart-toppers: Barbra Streisand (eight), Madonna (seven) and Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson (both with six).

Spears' last release, 2007's "Blackout," bowed at No. 2 with 290,000 behind the debut of Eagles' "Long Road Out of Eden" (711,000).

Santogold 2 Release "Say Aha"

Santogold had chosen the fan-favourite "Say Aha" as the official 3rd single off her self-titled debut album.

"Say Aha" was released in the UK on November 24, 2008 and will see its North American release on December 9, 2008.

The music video for "Say Aha" was filmed on Red Hook, Brooklyn's Van Brunt Street on June 18, 2008. Santogold was photographed on the video set with her extras, riding on bicycles with lifesized loudspeakers.

Let's hope the video is released soon. I am still waiting for "Creator" and "Shove it" to be released. Come on Santogold.

Jay-Z & Santogold Release Joint Single

Jay-Z & Santogold have released a new single "Brooklyn [Go Hard]" which will be the first single from the "Notorious" soundtrack. The track was produced by Kanye West.

The single will be released on December 5, 2008. The soundtrack will be released on January 13, 2009. The track samples Santogold's "Shove It" from her self-titled debut album.

Coldplay & Kylie Release Benefit Single

Coldplay have released a special collaboration with Kylie Minogue for World Aids Day.

The song, entitled 'Lhuna', was recorded at the band's Bakery studios during the production of their latest album 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends'.

Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin has previously described the song as being “too sexy” to put on the band’s album.

“At this point we cannot be that sexy, also we haven't quite finished it,” Martin added.

The track is one of a number of songs available as part of a new weekly music service which will benefit HIV-infected people in Africa.

Each issue of RED(WIRE), which will cost $5, includes an exclusive song from a major artist, as well as a musician the charity hopes to promote.

U2 and The Killers and Elton John have also recorded exclusive songs for the service.

The Circus Starring: Britney Spears Tour

Britney Spears has officially announced her 2009 work tour. "The Circus Starring: Britney Spears" will start in New Orleans on March 3, 2009 and has not end date as of yet but currently it is October 24, 2009 in Buenos Aires.

The world tour will see supporting act "The Pussycat Dolls" perform their hits off their new album "Doll Domination."

Britney will be performing tracks off her new album "Circus" as well as "Blackout" which did not get a tour. She will also perform older tracks from her 10 year catalogue.

She will be performing in Toronto on March 19, 2009 at the Air Canada Centre.

Tickets go on sale to the public on December 6, 2008.
